About World Mental Health Day
World Mental Health Day is observed globally every year on 10th October, having been first declared in 1992 by the WFMH itself with the purpose of generating mental health advocacy and awareness. Over the years, World Mental Health day has focused on various aspects of mental health including Women and Mental Health, Children and Mental Health, Mental Health and Human Rights, Mental Health and Aging, Effect of trauma & violence, Relationship between physical and mental health, Reducing risk of Mental Illness & Suicide, Depression awareness, Schizophrenia awareness, Dignity in Mental Health with various events across the world. The theme for World Mental Health Day this year is “Mental Health in Workplace”.

After giving Mental Health its own day globally, and leading the awareness programs since 1948 under the aegis of WHO and UNESCO, the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) has announced Mental Health in Workplace as the theme for this year’s World Mental Health Day.

To give the discussion on mental health the impetus that it deserves, the 21st Biennial World Congress of WFMH is being held in New Delhi at The Ashok Hotel from 2nd to 5th November 2017. With a stimulating scientific program and a constellation of key speakers including Nobel Laureates, Policy Makers &l Political leaders, Mental Health Professionals from across the world, Media Persons & Film Makers, NGOs, service users, caregivers and stakeholders, the WFMH World Congress 2017 promises to bring the spotlight on Mental Health.
