About WFMH & its World Congress: The World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) is a global body that envisions a world in which mental health is a priority for all people. The World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), founded in 1948 under the aegis of WHO and UNESCO, is the largest global alliance of mental health professionals, national health associations, NGOs, policy experts, and other institutions. The recommendations of WFMH World Congress for Mental Health invariably have a global impact. Having being previously held at Athens (2009), Capetown (2011), Beunos Aires (2013) and Cairo (2015), it is a matter of pride for India that this most significant biennial global event in the field of mental health is being held here for the first time ever in the SAARC & South East Asian Regions. About World Mental Health Day World Mental Health Day is observed globally every year on 10th October, having been first declared in 1992 by the WFMH itself with the purpose of generating mental health advocacy and awareness. Over the years, World Mental Health day has focused on various aspects of mental health including Women and Mental Health, Children and Mental Health, Mental Health and Human Rights, Mental Health and Aging, Effect of trauma & violence, Relationship between physical and mental health, Reducing risk of Mental Illness & Suicide, Depression awareness, Schizophrenia awareness, Dignity in Mental Health with various events across the world. The theme for World Mental Health Day this year is “Mental Health in Workplace”. After giving Mental Health its own day globally, and leading the awareness programs since 1948 under the aegis of WHO and UNESCO, the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) has announced Mental Health in Workplace as the theme for this year’s World Mental Health Day. To give the discussion on mental health the impetus that it deserves, the 21st Biennial World Congress of WFMH is being held in New Delhi at The Ashok Hotel from 2nd to 5th November 2017.
