Associated events of the World Congress WFMH World Congress of Mental Health is being held in India for the first time, and its associated events aimed at building Mental Health Awareness have begun. Apart from its enriching scientific program (2nd to 5th November, The Ashok Hotel), the WFMH World Congress of Mental Health would also have various other attractions to generate awareness about mental health issues amongst general public. Bike Rally for Mental Health The Bike Rally for Mental Health is being held around this year’s World Mental Health Day, as a prelude event to the WFMH World Congress of Mental Health, in partnership with CIMBS (Cosmos Institute of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences) and Riderz Planet – the motorcycle superstore, for the social cause of awareness generation on Mental Health issues. This Bike Rally will have over 60 super-bikers from across the city ride together to convey the message of safe riding and mental health. The Bike Rally will be flagged off from its starting point close to Moolchand flyover at 6:30am, ride through the beautiful streets of Delhi on a Sunday morning, and terminate at NDMC Convention Centre by 8am, where the Indian Psychiatric Society’s North Zone Conference is being held with over 400 Mental Health Professionals from North India attending. Following the bike rally, an interactive session will be held between the superbike riders, mental health professionals and media persons. Discussions are expected on Mental Health & Road Safety, Riding to Rejuvenate the Mind, and Stress-Free driving for better mental health at the workplace. Concurrently, general public is being motivated to take a Pledge for “Longer Rides with Calmer Minds”- an initiative to promote safe and stress-free driving, through this rally as well as its associated online awareness campaigns. Film Festival on Mental Health Through the decades, cinema and society have mirrored each other. While being entertaining, the connect cinema has to the masses is unparalleled, thereby making cinema a powerful tool in fighting stigma that surrounds mental health issues as well as generating awareness. Film Festival with retrospect of films on mental health themes will be held before and during the World Congress. The film festival will showcase movies with mental health themes with interactive discussions with theatre and cinema personalities. Public Lectures and Events for Educational Institutes and Community Various public lectures will be held in community, in caregiver groups as well as in educational institutions like schools and colleges, to build awareness about mental health issues. Photography Contest on Mental Health Themes A photography contest would be held to provoke thought and open discussions about mental health through the camera lens. Yoga and meditation workshops will be held concurrently with the World Congress to promote positive mental health and well-being. Art Exhibitions on Mental Health An art exhibition will be held during the World Congress, featuring art works created by mental health service users, caregivers and stakeholders with focus on mental health and creativity.
